Like musical chairs this game has one more players than their are holes. The shootout begins on the first hole with 19 players and one drops off every hole until a winner is found on the 18th hole.
This is a most popular way of scoring where the player is assigned a certain number of points for the score they have on a given hole.
You simply take your gross score and subtract your course handicap to get
your nett score.
E.g. your gross is 115 less handicap 28 your nett is
87.
NB. If you have a pick up you cannot have a nett score.
You simply add all 18 holes together and the total you get is your gross score. NB. If you have a pick up you cannot have a gross score.
Each year we get asked this question a lot during autumn we cannot completely eliminate leaves. We have trees on the course so we will always have leaves; however we do try to minimise the problem. We often mow over the leaves but as soon as the wind blows, more leaves fall. We could remove the leaves as they fall but this option is not a realistic as we cannot afford to as this would require extra staff and machinery and the cost would be very high for the short time the leaves fall. We could replant the trees with evergreens but this again would require a large financial outlay that we cannot afford. The wind does blow away a large amount of leaves.
Our rough has always been mown to a height of 40cm(lower than most clubs roughs). However members must be aware and accept that during spring and autumn the growth of grass is at its peak and shortly after mowing the grass, it will have grown. Sometimes if the weather is warm the growth may be faster than normal. Grass is a living plant. It has been suggested we mow the rough shorter, however rough then becomes fairway and if we tried to mow all the rough more often or every day the cost would be prohibitive. Our contractor does mow all our rough at least once a week sometimes more.
Some tips for golfers losing balls:
You are renting the lockers from the club, not buying them. The lockers
remain the property of the club and there are many costs that the club incurs
every year related to the locker room that must be covered by members hiring the
lockers. For a very small rental cost less than 10 cents per day you get many
benefits, your equipment is locked each night, opened in the morning and has
security alarm monitoring seven days a week and you have the ease of access to
your equipment without the hassle of loading the car and storing the clubs at
home.
Have you ever been to a facility that has lockers for hire? These are
often a lot smaller and cost $2.00 for every three hours.
As a member of the club you may use the clubrooms whenever they are open and
you may bring a guest so long as you accompany them.
The upstairs bar is
generally open:
Tuesday and Thursday afternoon between 2.30pm until
4.30pm,
Saturday and Sunday 11am until 6pm, Hours may vary depending on
demand.
As a member you may also hire the clubrooms for functions and you can
enjoy discounted members rates.
Yes. You must ensure all the crosses are marked and your score is recorded clearly under players score. It is best to get into the habit of swapping cards with your partner as in a competition you must swap cards. You and your marker must sign the card as correct after a game.
You need not have four people to play golf. Do not worry about not having a four or not knowing anyone, simply make yourself known to Sam and Dan in the Pro shop and they will put you with a four and ensure you are introduced to the others in your four. I am sure that in no time at all you will know many other members. You may consider the Thursday Club they meet every Thursday at 10am and will gladly put you in a four. A great day out.
A handy tip is to see Sam or Dan in the pro shop and ask about some lessons.
Players searching for a ball should signal the players behind them to pass as soon as it becomes apparent that the ball will not easily found. They should not search for five minutes before doing so. They should not continue play until the players following them have passed and are out of range.
Our greens staff carry out work on the course everyday. They do not just pick the busy days. It is because the work needs to be done and if not done their work can get well behind due to weather conditions or machinery that has been borrowed from other sources need to be back within a certain time. We have two greens staff who do a fantastic job for members.
